DESCRIPTION – the boxer is one of the most favoured breeds among dog enthusiasts. The Initial breeding was a result of two specific breeds - the Bradenter Bullenbeiser and the Danziger Bullenbeiser (two European breeds that no longer exist). The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized the Boxer breed in 1904.
BOXER TEMPERAMENT – a playful, outgoing personality, that is attentive to its family and to obeying training commands. Ideally-suited to an owner that enjoys an active lifestyle. Boxer dogs are characteristically good natured with other family pets, and towards children.
CARE – A breed that needs daily activity, both physical and mental, and enjoys a run. The Boxer isn't suited to apartment living. In need of daily walks and can make the ideal jogging companion.
The Boxer dog breed is more suited to living inside. A cooler temperature is preferred (a hot atmosphere isn't this dog's best preference); if keeping the Boxer outside for a period of time, be certain that a shade area is available to rest in.
GROOMING – often a simply task when it comes to the Boxer. Its short coat needs little brushing - a weekly brush to remove loose hairs is sufficient.
HEALTH INFORMATION – the major health concerns for Boxers dogs is Cardiomyopathy, CHD, and SAS. Health concerns of a more minor nature are Hypothyroidism, Colitis, Corneal Erosion and Gastric torsion. Brain tumours and Degenerative myelopathy are also seen in this breed on occasion.
