The deal was that this alleged super food was way more nutritious for your dog than the food scraps you used to feed them from your table. Even veterinarians agreed that dog food was, indeed, superior in quality nutrition when compared to the nutritional value of table scraps.
Recently, dog food has been recalled form the market due to contamination. All pet owners can seem to think about is the way the food was contaminated. They express anger and disappointment in behalf of their pets. Yet, in all these outbreaks of righteous indignation, no one once ever questioned the facts of nutritional value.
Does dog food really contain all those nutrients? What makes it better than fresh food scraps? Does it contain preservatives? Ask yourself these questions. Think very hard about the commercial premise that was used to promote dog food. Can commercially manufactured dog food be more nutritious than fresh food from your table?
We can answer this question as we peek into the contents of dog food. You better have a barf bag handy just in case.
All this time, you have been feeding your dog ground portions of different animals. I'm not talking about steaks or racks here. No, no, no. Those things are for human consumption. So, if people eat the whole cow, pig, turkey, chicken or rabbit, what's left? To get a better idea of what your pet dog or cat is really getting, imagine a blender and drop the things I mention into the blender.
Animal blood, bones and ligaments, beaks, lungs, other internal organs, feet, heads and all those other animal parts that humans refuse to eat for one reason or another are all poured into this big blender. Now, get that imaginary blender of yours, going. Gross isn't it?
Now, it is undeniable that there is nutritional value contained within those aforementioned parts. This is, after all, the same food that is used for livestock and poultry farm animals. However, does this match the manufacturer's claim that the meat used for the feed is quality grade A, A+ meat? How can this be more nutritious than your table food? The answers are really simple.
The materials used for any animal food are composed mostly of scraps. These are the kinds of animal scrap that wouldn't see the light of day on your dining table. The commercial feed manufacturers claim that they are using grade A+ materials for their feeds. Apparently, this isn't true.
Nutritional value is present within the feeds. The question lies in the quality of the nutrition that is contained within the feeds. Can these feeds equal or better nutritious table food?
If the answer is no, then people around the world have been wasting thousands of dollars just to keep their dogs fed with below quality feeds.
If the answer is yes, then there is still the matter of the advertising lie. The lie is present within the claims of feed manufacturers that they use quality, grade a, A+ materials to make animal food.
Now that we have some answers, I will leave you with this thought. Even if the nutritional value and quality of the feed was indeed, A+, can it be better than human table food? In essence, have we been wasting money in feeding pet food to our favorite pets?
