Dog parks can be a haven for our pets, offers a place for dogs to roam off a leash, and to have fun with other friendly canines.

3 Dog Park Rules & Tips for the Dog Owners

Although it can be great fun taking a dog for a run at a local park, mistakes are often created by a dog owner when visiting such areas. Owners often seem unable to balance the emotional needs of a dog when visiting a dog park.

[ 1] One mistake often noticed is when a owner relies entirely on a local dog park to fulfill a dogs needs. Meaning, a park can be so enjoyable for a pet, a lot of owners might neglect other forms of attention when away from these areas.

Often deciding that several hours at a park will stop the dog for required additional stimulation when at home. This can result in distress and behavior problems.

[ 2] A second mistake is a dog owner doesn't pay attention and allows a dog to run loose, and not to watch on to stop potential problems. This in the main points to signs of dominance and aggression over small dog breeds in the park.

As all the dogs are full of energy and excitable, it might be difficult to tell if he's attempting to dominate a pup or adult dog. Although the actions might seem playful at a distance, sometimes it can be the complete opposite, and might be starting a fight.

[3] And a third issued often seen is that the dog owner doesn't always join in with the activities. A lot of owners visit a park, allow the dogs to roam free, but remain at the side watching on. It's much more beneficial to interact, keep an eye on the dog, and be sure that a dominant dog isn't attempting to take over.

Put in force boundaries and maintain a well-behaved animal.
