The German Wirehaired Pointer is a tough bird dog and amiable companion all in one compact package. These dogs are gifted with an almost boundless amount of energy, and love to run and roam for hours.

German Wirehaired Pointer's can at times be stubborn, often overprotective, and makes a highly rated guard dog and watchdog, but don't always fare well with strange dogs. Even with its aggressive nature and protective personality with other animals and strangers, the German Wirehaired Pointer can make an excellent pet for a family that's playful with children.

History Of The German Wirehaired Pointer:

The search for a versatile and talented hunting breed made its popularity known in Germany, with the breeding of the German Wirehaired Pointer - a extremely popular sporting breed.

These dogs were breed as a result of a hunters wish to create a breed that was able to point and track game, face off with tough prey, and retrieve from water or land, and at the same time, a rated watch dog. In addition to its abilities, these dogs required to maintain a wiry, durable, and rough coat that's able to protect the dogs as its hunting in heavy bristle and brush.
