In the late 1800's, the Irish Water Spaniel was a favored breed in show rings in the United Kingdom and United States. Later in 1875, it become of the most popular breeds of its era. Today, these dogs are now rarely seen - either as a common pet or on show.

The Irish Water Spaniel is sensitive and inquisitive to all training related matters, so easy to train. Grooming for this dog consists of a regular brushing to contend with its curly coat, and to avoid mats and cords.
