Description: The Norwich Terrier is an adventurous, fun-loving, and feisty member of the Terrier group. A hunting breed at heart, so being able to chase small animals, such as rodents, will keep the Norwich content. These dogs are suited to an owner with an active lifestyle and enjoys outdoor pursuits.

A Norwich Terrier is great with children, and with its playful attitude these dogs always welcome the attention of other household pets and dogs. Also accepting strangers if there master is present.

History Of The Norwich Terrier: The origin of the Norwich Terrier dates back to 1800's England. With these dogs sharing a history that's identical to the Norfolk Terrier. The main different between the two breeds is that the Norfolk’s have droopy ears and the Norwich has pricked-ears.

Throughout its early years these dogs acted as a highly rated breed for fox bolting and as vermin hunters. In truth, all terriers classed as short-legged with admired and respected in the United Kingdom.

In 1939, the American Kennel Club recognized the dogs, but as a single breed with two variations (pricked and droopy ears). Later in 1979, the breeds were split into two distinct groups, with the Norwich Terrier making a popular breed in earth dog trails as well as a loving companion.

Norwich Terrier Care: These dogs are in need of ample exercise. A daily routine can consist of running inside, as well as the freedom to run and chase small animals in a secure yard throughout the day.

The ideal living arrangements for a Norwich Terrier is secure outside access during the day, and to sleep inside with its family at nights. Grooming consists of a good brushing once or twice a week to cope with its wiry coat, with a complete stripping three to four times a year.

Health Information: Health concerns seen with a Norwich Terrier include CHD, patellar luxation, seizures, cheyletiella mites, deafness, and cataracts. Vets recommend that these dogs are checked for knee and hip related problems.
