Description:

The Puli is agile and very quick, most notable when herding. These dogs have a distinctive appearance, often called 'mop like', down to its super curly, long coat, which is weatherproof.

A dog with a temperament that can be best described as energetic, defensive, and curious. The Puli is headstrong in relation to its attitude, and tends to more aggressive with other dogs and strangers. In addition, that makes these dog fearless protectors and dependable watchdogs.

History Of The Puli:

The origins of the Puli date back to the Middle Ages, in Hungary. The roots of this breed where traced back to a sheepdog coming from Magyar tribes throughout the 9th century. These tribes controlled the Danube area and had several different breeds of sheepdog.

It’s believed that the Tibetan Spaniel featured in the bloodline in view of a close resemblance to the physical structure of the Puli to that of the Tibetan. Even so, these canines where adapted at sheep herding, and well favored by their masters.

The initial breed standard for the Puli was created in 1925, in times as its numbers multiplied the breed was soon popular across the world, and especially in the U.S. The Puli was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1936.

Puli Care:

These dogs have a high level of energy, so in need of a couple of daily walk, as well as time for games or training sessiosn for some mental stimulation. A dog that's towards the easy scale of training abilities.

A Puli is able to tolerate cooler temperatures and can live outside if need be. Although, these dogs are well-mannered and would prefer to sleep inside with its family at nights. Grooming consists of a good brushing each day.

Health Information:

Health problems seen with the Puli include CHD, deafness and PRA. Vets recommend that these dogs are checked for hearing, hip, and eye related concerns.
