Staffordshire Bull Terrier's are in need of constant companionship with its master, as a truly devoted dog. These dogs will be friendly with other pets, dogs and even strangers, but will aim to protect its family at all cost. A dog that’s generally good with children around, but might be a handful and a bit boisterous with a smaller child.

History Of The Staffordshire Bull Terrier:

The origins of the Stafford dates back to 1800's England. In that period of time dog's were commonly used as vermin control. This in turn, lead on to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier being used for bigger and better events, with the arrival of dog fighting (also call 'bull baiting').

In order to increase there prowess as a fighting dog, with an aim to increase speed, agility, and strength, the dogs where cross-bred with a Black and Tan Terrier and a Bulldog of its time. This all resulted in the Bull and Terrier. With continued selective breeding, a dog was to emerge with more jaw strength, smaller, and one that was to be less arggressive with humans - and seen as today's Staffordshire Bull.

Dog fighting was to become banned in England but these dogs continued to be admired as a favored companion. Later in 1935 the breed was recognized by the English Kennel Club, and in 1974 acknowledged by the American Kennel Club (AKC)
